The most beautiful solar car in the world is located at Bochum University of Applied Sciences - unless it's already on the road in Australia or America, taking part in the World Solar Challenge (WSC) or the North American Solar Challenge!
SolarWorld No. 1 won the Design Award at the 'WSC Down Under' in 2007 and also came in fourth overall in this world championship for solar cars. It's no surprise that students, employees, and professors from the mechatronics and machine construction fields and electrical engineering and computing departments are extremely proud of this prototype of energy efficiency. Particularly since it was built by the students themselves in just one year!
In 2009, Bochum University of Applied Sciences will again build a solar car to take part in the World Solar Challenge 2009 in Australia. As part of the project, Murtfeldt manufactures and supplies the plastic parts that are used to insulate and mount the electrical contacts of the lithium-ion batteries of the solar car. Naturally, we're hoping that the success of 2007 will be repeated!
