Galloping round the racecourse
What do Murtfeldt Plastics, the AOK company fun run, and the Lebenshilfe association for the mentally disabled have in common? A desire to help and to work for a good cause.
Thus, on the 7th of May 45 Murtfeldt employees gathered to take part in the AOK company fun run at Dortmund racecourse in order to support a good cause. The motto for the Murtfeldt team for the 7th of May was "Do some good whilst keeping fit". As well as improving their physical condition, the efforts of the runners also resulted in a considerable donation to charity. Murtfeldt CEO Detlev Höhner donated five euros per kilometre run. Along with the donations of the runners, this amounted to a donation of 1,770 euros.
Hans-Jürgen Wagner, CEO of the Lebenshilfe national association for the mentally disabled, was pleased to receive a cheque from Detlev Höhner before the run. "This is great timing because our residence in Dortmund-Aplerbeck needs a new waterbed." This was happily confirmed by Heike Weide and Sabrina Warnholz, residence and group leader at Aplerbeck: "We urgently need the waterbed for therapeutic sessions and were really sad when the old bed broke recently."
Thus, they and their wards enthusiastically cheered on the Murtfeldt employees who took part in the race. And it paid off: The Murtfeldt team came in second overall. That's a great result in a race with just under 800 participants.
