Murtfeldt's new screw milling machine successfully starts up

In order to be able to manufacture screws even more efficiently and quickly in the future, Murtfeldt has placed a new screw milling machine into operation. Its outstanding feature is that thanks to its technical fittings, which are completely innovative within the market, the machine is subject to an extremely low level of vibration. It thus enables the quick and cost-effective manufacturing of screws with an extremely high finish quality.

The screws run extremely smoothly through the new machine during the manufacturing process and vibrations and torsions on the blanks are absorbed. Processing is considerably more stable, the number of rejects is reduced, and throughput times are shortened. This type of production means that both small batch sizes and large quantities can be manufactured profitably. Even longer or especially thin products can be processed at low levels of vibration to create a great surface finish.

There are benefits for the tools used, too: The amount of wear is reduced meaning that the tools can be used for longer and the intervals between time-consuming maintenance runs are extended. In addition, the choice of tools to use has increased significantly. The wide range of milling cutters enables the cost-effective production of practically any contour.

Murtfeldt has been producing all types of screws for many years: Turning screws, trumpet inlets, discharge screws, conveying screws for transporting, compressing, or metering bulk goods, and transport screws for separating, positioning, turning, or grouping bulk goods.

The advantages of plastic screws over screws made from metal are that they are quieter and exert lower centrifugal forces as a result of their lighter weight. They transport goods constantly, quickly, and gently. Their curves are easy to clean and antibacterial plastics prevent germs and bacteria.

All thermoplastics in the Murtfeldt range can be processed on this machine. They are characterized by their impact and abrasion resistance, high sound insulation, great notch impact strength, and excellent sliding action. All of these features contribute to the sparing use of energy for drives.

Murtfeldt currently produces clockwise and anticlockwise screw elements with a diameter of between 18 and 300 mm. The maximum total part length is 1500 mm.
